Scott Hamilton Quartet

Scott Hamilton (Sax)

John Pearse (Piano)

Dave Green (Bass)

Steve Brown (Drums)

Harborough Jazz is proud to present the international tenor player Scott Hamilton with his British supporting group. Scott has been ‘a good wind blowing us no ill’ since the late 70s,establishing himself as a leading exponent of modern mainstream tenor playing in the classic tradition of Coleman Hawkins; Ben Webster, Zoot Sims and Don Byas. An outstanding interpreter of ballads and blues, he appears with his longstanding British group. Bass player Dave Green needs no introduction, being the British equivalent of Ray Brown. John Pearce on piano began life in one of Geraldo’s navy bands, before joining Ray Ellington’s Quartet and working as a session musician. He has worked with many visiting American vocalists and musicians and has been a member of Scott’s quartet since 2000. Youngest member of the groups is drummer Steve Brown, widely regarded as one of the best of the new generation of British jazz drum players – Steve also joined the Quartet in 2000, and has also played with many visiting American musicians over the years.
