The Ted Della Band provide
a fascinating mixture of standards and some of their own compositions
arranged for their own inimitable style combining bossa and other latin
rhythms with straight ahead jazz styles
The British Jazz pianist and
composer leads two jazz ensembles, his own piano trio and a larger band with
vocalists. He plays regularly on the London and home counties circuit
including Pizza Express, Dean Street, The Oxygen Club, Tenor Clef and
Blackheath Concert Halls. He also organises and plays at jam sessions at the
Pizza Express and he has had a long residency at the National
Theatre.
He has played regularly with the
bass player Jeremy Brown and the saxophonist Matt Wates. His last album was
entitled ‘Ocean Breeze’ and featured Jim Mullen, Snake Davis and
Columbian percussionist Roberto Pla. His career has taken him to France,
Spain, Scandinavia, Canada and the United States. As well as playing
original jazz compositions he has recently presented a well received concert
of Duke Ellington’s music at the National theatre.
